Kalinya Estate is an amazing venue, and with so many facilities on site there is something for everyone to enjoy. The bedrooms and bathrooms are generous in size, and the owners have gone to great lengths to style the interiors memorably and beautifully! It was the perfect location for our team retreat. Mandy and Bec couldn’t have been more helpful and looked after our team the entire stay.
The grounds are a breath of fresh air, stunningly cared for and presented immaculately. Their eco-conscious philosophy is evident throughout while the buildings exude tasteful luxury. Incredibly welcoming and practical – they’ve thought of everything you could possibly need. The pizza oven was my favourite highlight, but we will all be talking about our stay for years to come.

Sustainable Luxury
At Kalinya we love our genuine rural community and natural environment! We work hard to not only reduce our footprint on the world… but to build up the natural ecosystems and communities so that we can have a positive, enduring impact on our world. We love luxury, but that is not at the expense of the environment or people…. We call it thoughtful luxury.
Kalinya Estate actively partners with Ecotourism Australia, by participating in the Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard program. This reflects our ongoing commitment to assess and reduce our environmental, socio-economic and cultural impacts while continuing to use the most sustainable management practices possible.
Sustainable Designs
At Kalinya, we have designed spaces that promote human health, relationships, and community. We have set up the estate, so that everything is here that you will need for a large group. You will be able to cater in comfort without the need for single use items.
-We have repurposed historically significant pieces and building materials.
-We have prioritised installing environmental technologies, such as 160 KW of solar and electric car charging stations for guests.
-We have restored the buildings and upgraded, to reduce the need for large consumption; all buildings have been insulated, windows tinted, backed curtains, added ceiling fans.
-We have used natural sustainable materials in design, such as 100% wool carpeting.
-We have restored our very own natural pond and dam ecosystems, to build the native habitat and animal populations.
Walking Gently
At Kalinya we aim to walk gently on this beautiful land and give back wherever we can, as you can see in these examples.
-Wastewater is recycled into greywater and used from irrigation throughout the estate’s gardens.
-We have eliminated the need for single use items, by providing refillable large-format sustainable amenities and the reuse of towelling during guest stay.
-Guest spare food waste is recycled to feed the chickens and ducks. Any other organic waste can be sent to the compost bins where it can be recycled to feed the soil in the gardens. Recycle bins provided throughout the property for non-organic matter.
-Towelling is laundered onsite with human friendly and sustainable products.
-Energy intense facilities are run on timers during solar hours.
-Use of sustainable garden maintenance practices; using natural methods to build soil quality and avoid the use of toxic chemicals.
Building Community
Our aim is to use the estate to show leadership to other businesses in the region, inspiring others to make an imprint for good.
When you book at Kalinya, you can be confident in knowing that we draw on the services of a wide range of beautiful local contractors. We work to improve the lives of the communities around us; by employing the services of those with disabilities and needs and building up the community through education and training. We love to support local projects and encourage guests to get involved where they can.
Local Wollondilly communities have been hit hard over the past few years, with fires, floods and Covid. We want to see this rural community gather its strengths and rebuild to create belonging for the next generations.
Industry Collaboration
When you book at Kalinya, you will be supporting a team of businesses with sustainable philosophies and practices.
-Kalinya partners with chefs who provide local, sustainable, and seasonable menus
-We partner with the local leading Australian sustainable floristry businesses
-We partner with suppliers who produce sustainable, cruelty free non-toxic guest body products and gifts, such as Ecomax plastic free, fully recyclable, coconut fibre, naturally antibacterial toilet brushes.
-Kalinya purchases environmentally and person friendly cleaning products and garden maintenance products to be used throughout the estate, such as bulk mushroom composting.

When you come to stay with us at Kalinya Estate, you will be welcomed and cared for on the land of the Dharawal people. We acknowledge that we work, rest and play on the land of the oldest known civilisation on earth. We honour their culture and love for our environment and we pay our respects to their elders past, present and future.
